PCD AND CBN TOOLS

PCD TOOLS

PCD stands for “Poly Crystalline Diamond”, the hardest available cutting material. PCD is a synthetic diamond produced by sintering together selected diamond particles with a metal matrix at high temperature and high pressure. Although PCD has higher toughness than natural diamond, it still extremely brittle compared with other cutting materials. Because of that, PCD is used only to machine soft Non-Ferrous materials.

The most popular material machined with PCD is Aluminum, followed by plastics and brass.

  • PCD INSERTS: We manufacture all types of PCD inserts with single and multiple cutting edges.
  • PCD REAMERS: Our wide product range of PCD reamers includes PCD tip with carbide body and with steel shank with through/non through coolant

CBN INSERTS

The polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (CBN) inserts offer a cost-effective alternative to the diamond tools. Although CBN's exceptional toughness/hardness is still less than the diamond-based materials, it remains stable at temperatures of up to 1400°C, whereas diamond starts to decompose at 800°C. Additionally, its chemical resistance to ferrous materials is better than of PCD. This makes CBN inserts the preferred solution (over diamond) in many applications, especially those that involve the machining of hardened steels (45-72 HRC) of any kind: Case hardened steel, tool steel, heat treated steel, etc. They are compatible with standard tool holders by other, leading manufacturers. We manufacture all types of CBN inserts with single and multiple cutting edges.
